Celebrating Christmas Kansas City Style

So Christmas came and went, can you believe it, it's already past us by. I know I can't. I wish I could live it all over again. Not for the gifts, though they were all greatly appreciated, and boy did our kiddos get spoiled. But for the family time; which is always so important to us. I can't help by be a bit saddened that our months of preparations and planning have now come to an end. Let me explain... this year was extra special for us all! My parents had started planning over the summer to join us for Christmas and after their flights where situated, the mister and I got to planning out own little Christmas surprise. You should have seen the look on my parents face when they went into our garage (a few days before Christmas) to so-called "help bring presents inside" and opened the door to my brothers and gf which would all be joining us. It was pure and uttery happiness, and yes I cried over it with the excitement that we could all be here together as a family for the Holidays. It still makes me tear up thinking about how awesome it all was, cause before this, we hadn't had a holiday together (the parents and us kids) since I was in college somewhere over 12 years ago. I hope you all had a fabulous holidays, spent with the ones you love. Please be warned that this is a bit of a photo heavy post. Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

✴ p.s. just a reminder that today is the last day to register for all of the amazing gifts over on the 12 Days of Holiday Cheer, Blog Party! Click HERE for a list of all the posts and giveaways!

✴ p.s.s. we went right before the fam got here to see santa and the kids were pretty excited.
santa graciously brought them some amazing gifts too.
photo taken by the mister. i love how fascinated they were by him.
photo taken by myself. these kiddos with their silly faces make us smile!

Thanks for making it to the bottom of my lengthy photo post :)

DIY Yarn Mobile with Rae Veda

.

Hello Adalou readers! My name is Rae Veda and I blog over on An Eclectic Heap. I'm really into the holidays and love making things for my tiny apartment to make it more cheerful and cozy. This is a quick DIY for a yarn ball mobile. I absolutely love mine, but you could make yours in other colors you choice. It's also a great way to re-use materials, such as yarn, that you may have laying around from other projects. I hope you enjoy!

SUPPLIES :  Foam balls (in various sizes)  //  Yarn  //  Ribbon  //  Tacks  //  Scissors  //  Stapler
1. Start by wrapping yarn around a foam ball. I think it works best if you hold the end with your finger until it is wrapped around a few times to prevent anything coming loose. Just keep wrapping until the ball is wrapped to your desire.

2. If you run out of one color or just want to add another to make the ball two-tones just tie on the next color to the ender (as shown). It's really simple and the knot will become hidden with the rest of the yarn.
3. To finish off the yarn ball I twisted the end into the rest of the yarn and tied a knot. It holds up really well this way and you won't risk the unraveling.

4. I then threaded glitter ribbon under a few strands of yarn and stapled it to the longer part so it could be hung from my ceiling.

5. Repeat as many times as necessary for your space, take to the ceiling, and you're finished! Easy as pie.
I hope you have had a lovely holiday season! Thanks so much for having me, Sandi!

Thanks so much Rae for sharing this fabulous DIY! Make sure to swing on over to her blog to say hello,
and see what else she's up to lately. Hope you're week has been great! Happy Friday!

Dear Santa...

I'll gladly take one of each of these please! Some of these items are sold out and super hard to find but a girl can dream, right?! I don't recall ever writing a Christmas list as a child, I'm sure we must have but I just don't remember it... Plus I think my mom was actually super mom and must have just kept careful track of what we said all year long, cause we always ended up with something we wanted or needed. I shoulda put that dress (No.1) on my list sooner, which Im thinking I may have to snatch up myself now or that bowl (No.11) I've been dying for this pattern to add to my enamel collection forever. Did you make a list for Santa? What's on your holiday wish list?
