ARTIST : JESSEE MALONEY OF ART SCHOOL DROPOUT

.
Happy Wednesday sweet friends! Well today we have a special treat in store for you but first I would love to introduce you to Jessee Maloney of Art School Dropout. For those of you who don't already now Jessee, well, she's the wonderfully talented artist who's hand crafted each of the pieces you will see below. Her style is just amazing and I really love all of her works. I mean, look at that Octopus necklace above. Not only are her pieces completely unique but they are gorgeous! Today we have a little interview so you can meet miss Jessee and get to know a bit more about her and her work. Plus she has decided to host a special little giveaway for all you lovely people. So without further ado - Meet Jessee!

ART SCHOOL DROPOUT

"Hi! My name is Jessee Maloney and I am the sole owner and operator of Art School Dropout. I have been at it for the past 9 years! Which is just crazy to me these days. Almost an entire decade! I am also a mom to a 2.5 year old little girl and I love everything nerdy!"

S - Tell us a bit about your art and how Art School Dropout, your shop, came to be?

J - I started out making what I called "Juxtapose Necklaces" which were collage necklaces made out of new and vintage pieces. They kinda looked like a little garden on your neck, some even had birds and octopuses tangled in. I really wanted to expand on the necklaces so I taught myself how to cast plastic! I loved it from the first mold I made. Casting plastic pieces soon became 50% of my business! Over the years I've also added fabric design, embroidered bags, wall hangings and Blythe clothes to the shop as regulars. This year I am adding the newest change to Art School Dropout, I've decided to combine geometric 3D printed pieces with cast plastic for a whole new line of original jewelry. I plan on releasing new pieces every month until the holidays.

S - Do you have a favorite piece you've created?

J - My favorite piece to date is my Juxtapose Necklace that incorporates an octopus (photo above)! I love that its something so dainty and so pretty, yet is tangled up with something so large and possibly dangerous.

S - Can you share with us a list of your top 5 sites for inspiration?

J - I love all of these sites for their use of color alone...

S -  Is there anything else you'd care for us to know?

J - Well on Wednesday at 7pm (EST) I have a jewelry sale starting in the kids section on Fab.com :)

If you're already on Fab you may link to Jessee's wonderful sale here >>> http://fab.com/sale/8008

And like I mentioned Jessee to me earlier, she wanted to host a special giveaway for one lucky reader. One winner will receive her newest Fragmented Necklaces (style pictured below). The winner will have the choice between the narrow or wider designs necklaces and their choice of color, whichever may be currently in stock.
